21 Days of

Prayer
& Fasting

Sunday Jan 7th
to Jan 28th

Welcome

We are so grateful to God to see another year and to have the opportunity to begin the new year seeking His face with our first annual designated time of prayer and fasting. Richard Foster says, “Fasting reminds us that we are sustained “by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God: (Matt. 4:4). Food does not sustain us; God sustains us. In Christ, “All things hold together” (Col. 1:17). Therefore, in experiences of fasting we are not so much abstaining from food as we are feasting on the word of God and on Christ Himself. Here is a simple guide for you to use during the next 21 days.

We pray this time will be a time of spiritual nourishment for you personally and spiritual empowerment for us as a church corporately; as we launch the ministry of King’s City Church to be on mission to Love God, Love People and Make Kingdom Disciples of Jesus in every sphere of influence.

Why Do We Pray?

Prayer is simply the medium through which we communicate and commune with God. The practice of prayer is learning to set aside dedicated time to intentionally be with God, in order to become like Him and partner with Him in the world.

Prayer is mentioned more than 500 times in Scripture. Throughout the life of Jesus, we see Jesus in prayer with our heavenly Father. Prayer was the foundation of his life here on Earth.

If prayer was integral to Him, how much more must it be integral for us?

The ultimate aim of fasting is to get in touch with our hunger for God.

Why Do We Fast?

Fasting is going without food for a set amount of time to awaken our body and soul to our deep hunger and need for God. Fasting is one of the most essential and powerful practices of Jesus, allowing us to integrate our entire person, including our body, around God. The ultimate aim of fasting is to get in touch with our hunger for God. Hunger is the state of wanting or needing something you do not have. When we fast, we awaken our body and soul to its deep yearning for life with the Father.
