About Us
“What would it look like if Jesus was King?”
What would it look like if Jesus was truly the Lord and center of our lives and as a result, we began to see what all of life: our families, our careers, our possessions, and our relationships with one another was lived under His lordship? It was this question that inspired the vision of King’s City Church- a church that glorifies God by being the embodiment of His kingdom in the city, a counterculture that reflects Jesus as King.
Our pastors, Drs. Dayo and Dupe Adeyefa, everything they had worked toward was finally beginning. They dreamed of stability, success, and significance. And over the years, they checked every box: the education, the career, the marriage, the family. From the outside, it looked like they had arrived. But deep inside, something still felt... off. It wasn’t until they truly grasped the gospel, not just intellectually, but intimately, that things began to change. They discovered that our identity wasn’t in our titles or achievements. It was in Jesus. Ultimately, they came to believe what the Bible said was true; outside of an intimate relationship with the Lord, nothing they placed their ultimate hopes in would ever bring a deep and lasting satisfaction. It is only under the reign and lordship of Jesus that our hearts would truly find the rest and fulfillment we all long for.
It was this gospel truth that inspired them to plant King’s City Church. They envisioned not just planting a church, but being part of a Spirit led movement. A community where people are known, loved, and transformed by the Gospel. A family where identity is rooted in Christ, not performance.
They imagined a church that looks like heaven on earth:
- Where the Word of God and prayer are paramount.
- Where worship is real and discipleship is deep.
- Where love is louder than ambition, and service outweighs status.
- Where we Love God, Love People & make kingdom disciples of Jesus in every sphere of influence.
It was clear that God was birthing something new.
Before King’s City Church ever launched a worship gathering, God was already at work. In 2021, we began hosting weekly virtual Bible studies creating space to center ourselves in the Word and gather those who would become the early core of King’s City.

That spring and summer, we hosted Vision Nights across the city. These gatherings were sacred—full of prayer, worship, and stories.
People came out with hearts open, ready to get involved in what God was doing. Those nights confirmed the call and revealed the hunger: we weren’t the only ones longing for more.
On January 30th 2022, with a core team of 40 people inspired by the Holy Spirit with a vision, King’s City Church officially launched.
From the very beginning, it wasn’t just about filling seats, it was about making disciples. People came hungry to hear the gospel in a way that centered on Jesus and also proved to be relevant and applicable to their lives. We worshiped together, opened the Scriptures together, and prayed together. And a gospel shaped community was born. The dream had become real. And God is just getting started and we are so honored to be a part of it.

Today, King’s City is a growing, diverse, Christ-centered church in the heart of Houston. We’ve grown from three home groups to six, each one a place where real community is formed, the Word is opened, and lives are shared in the intimacy of homes. These aren’t just small gatherings, they’re spiritual families where people are known, challenged, and encouraged in their walk with Jesus.
We’ve also taken seriously our call to serve, not only in our city, but across the globe.
Here in Houston, we’ve partnered with local organizations, responded to needs in our neighborhoods, and served the city through intentional outreach and missions. Beyond our borders, we’ve extended the love of Jesus from the city of Houston to Honduras and North Africa, coming alongside global partners to support Kingdom work and meet tangible needs.
From Sunday worship gatherings to city outreaches, and from home groups to community gatherings, our mission is the same:
To Love God, Love People, and Make Disciples of Jesus in every sphere of influence.

The story isn’t over because the future is yet to be uncovered. God is still working, Jesus is building His Church and the Holy Spirit is still empowering us for mission.
We’re envisioning a church in Houston in collaboration with other gospel centered churches in Houston that is on a mission to saturate the city with the gospel and make disciples of Jesus. A church that is a “ pilot plant” of the kingdom, a royal colony of heaven here to display how human society can see what family life, business practices, race relations and all of life can be under the kingship of Jesus Christ.
